Editorial Policy and Notice

Responsibility

Root Complex is written and edited by one desk, which is responsible for every page it publishes. Pages carry a collective signature because they are revised collectively. The desk is reachable at a single email address, published on the contact page, and that address is the correct place for every editorial matter including a complaint.

Independence

The desk works alone, and its only relationship is with the documents it reads. No standards body, industry association, chip vendor, test house or tool supplier commissions a page, funds one, reviews one before publication or holds any right of reply beyond the correction procedure open to every reader. Pages here describe what a document says; they never certify, approve or list a product, and any sentence that reads like a certification is a mistake worth reporting.

Corrections

A factual error is corrected on the page and recorded with its date in the bench notes. Where the error changed the meaning of a claim, the note says what the page used to say. The desk does not delete a page to make an error disappear, and does not backdate a revision.

What is not published here

The desk does not publish the text of any specification it is not entitled to redistribute, does not reproduce membership lists or rosters of any organization, does not name private individuals, and does not present a synthetic illustration as evidence of a real device, measurement or event. Illustrations on this site set a scene: they are not proof of a configuration and are never captioned as if they were.

Names and trademarks

Standards names, company names and product names appear in the text for identification only, in their ordinary descriptive sense. They remain the property of their respective owners, and their use here implies no affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement in either direction. Where a name is a registered mark, that status belongs to its owner whether or not a symbol is printed next to it here, and the absence of a symbol is a typographic choice rather than a claim.

Availability

Pages are provided for information. The desk works to keep them accurate against current documents, and a reader making an engineering decision should verify the point against the current specification or vendor document rather than against a summary, here or anywhere else.

Illustrations

Photographs on this site are produced for it and show benches, boards, connectors and instruments. They set a scene. None of them documents a specific product, a specific measurement or a specific event, and a caption never implies otherwise. Where a page discusses a measurement, the measurement is described in the text with the conditions that make it meaningful, because an image of an instrument is not a result.

Complaints and right of reply

Anyone who considers a page here inaccurate about them or about their product can write to the desk and will get an answer. Where the complaint is right, the page is corrected and the correction is dated. Where the desk disagrees, it says why and says which document it is relying on, so that the disagreement is about a document rather than about opinions. Nothing is removed silently, and no page is edited to make a complaint disappear from the record.
